sold three really nice pots on etsy and i am thrilled! it took me three months to sell my first three pots on there so this is a huge morale boost. Sadly (kind of) I sold my favorite pot I have ever made, but I am happy it will have a nice home.

well the kiln is finally finished, but i had to take a break from thinking about it due to so many issues with the owner. my friend matt and i spent hours arguing back and forth with her and at one point she refused to pay us. after calling my dads good friend who is a small claims attorney, (thank god my dad has helpful friends) she was scared into paying us. all and all i had a great time working with matt and made a good bit of money (that i have already blown on fishing stuff…oops). ill be building another kiln in tennessee next week and by summers end i will have built another in ann arbor, michigan and one more in south bend, indiana. these photos probably dont make any sense but i promise its a really nice kiln that im quite proud of. i figured tumblr was a good place to have them saved seeing that my computer likes to crash and erase only things that are important to me

the start of my narcissistic blogging

With near perfect weather rolling in, the Louisville Clay sale took place this weekend.  The fact that I have been busy working paired with unloading the worst kiln ever on Thursday left me with a shortage of pots. Luckily, I had committed to splitting a booth with my good friend Matt Gaddie (meadowspottery.com) and together I think we filled out the booth quite nicely.  Friday was a scorcher that left me with a nice red neck.  After the show ended at 8, Ali, Michael, Gaddie, Brian Somerville, and I wandered down Bardstown Road to Tony Bombozz to hang out. Although the beer was overpriced and cornhole was a spectacle of non-athletic individuals, it was a blast.  Sadly the sun was already high in the sky when I woke up at 7 Saturday morning, and the worsening sunburn did not help the fact that I didn’t sell a pot for the first four hours.  I met some great people at the show including two serious collectors of Japanese tea bowls (yunomis), and they both bought a few of mine. Both said they wanted quite a bit more of my work which is a welcome change to all of the pots I haven’t been selling.  To top the weekend off, my local ceramic hero Laura Ross gave me a teapot and cup. I have always admired her work and I was so excited by the happening that I felt the need to take a picture of the pots and post them on here for ALL 3 of my followers to see (technically 2 since the cup is for Ali).  With summer just getting started, mine already seems to be ending.  I will be waking up at 630 every day for the next week or so to tear down an old kiln, haul bricks, and build a new kiln in its place.  I especially can’t wait to haul bricks up onto the metal roof to build the chimney in the 85 degree humidity.  For the first time ever I plan to photo-document something,  so hopefully I will have some pictures in the next few days

dontchaknow its a good thing sarah palin doesn’t “protect her tweets” or else i wouldn’t be able to enjoy this gem.

When asked about how as President she would avoid investigations similar to the one compelling her resignation as Governor of Alaska she responded, “I think on a national level your Department of Law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we’ve been charged with and automatically throw them out.”
